The 2026 Hot Springs Cherry Blossom Festival and The Tea Horse Tea Village registrations are now open, inviting you to step into a unique celebration of culture, tradition, and community.
This year marks a special moment as the festival embraces its new 501(c)(3) status, offering fresh experiences that blend the beauty of cherry blossoms with the calming art of tea.
All proceeds support the Hanamaki Sister City Program and The Tea Horse Tea School, helping students and cultural initiatives continue to grow.
Whether you are a tea enthusiast, a lover of Japanese culture, or simply seeking a meaningful way to spend a spring day, the Tea Village offers a series of intimate, engaging experiences designed to educate, inspire, and restore.

🌸 What Not to Do With Your Vintage Kimono
A lively, story-driven lecture and demonstration exploring the care and preservation of vintage kimono. Jenn-Sensei shares practical guidance on handling, folding, and storing these garments so they may be appreciated for years to come.

🌿 Wakei Chabako — Opening Tea Gathering
Begin the day with a quiet and meaningful tea experience rooted in wartime tradition.
Created during World War II, when tea was shared in moments of farewell before uncertain journeys, this gathering is now offered in remembrance of Hōunsai Sōshō—honoring the resilience and continuity of tea.
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Capacity: Limited to 24 guests

🍵 Tray-Style Tea Experience
A 30-minute guided matcha experience designed to be both approachable and authentic. Guests are served tea by trained students across seasonal stations, offering a gentle introduction to tea practice.
Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Session Length: 30 minutes

🌿 Viewing & Incense Experience
Observe tea service and sweets-making while exploring the role of traditional incense in Japanese culture. This relaxed experience offers insight into the sensory aspects of tea without the formality of a full ceremony.

🌿 Kansha "Gratitude" Tea Rest
Pause and reflect in a quiet tea space offering a simple serving of tea paired with pressed sugar sweets. A moment of calm within the flow of the festival.

🍡 Nerikiri Sweets Making Workshops
