Supporting the Tea Horse Kōryū Foundation
Dear Tea Horse Friends,
This year marks the Year of the Fire Horse—a time of courage, momentum, and decisive forward movement. It feels only right to step forward openly and invite you into this moment.
The Tea Horse Kōryū Foundation has officially submitted its application for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and is currently under IRS review. The Foundation is being formed to steward Japanese tea culture through education, accessibility, and long-term cultural care—work that requires intention, integrity, and meaningful support.
For years, this work has been carried through teaching, demonstrations, and deep personal commitment. The Foundation allows this lineage to move forward sustainably—supporting students, scholarships, public programming, and the preservation of cultural knowledge without placing unsustainable burden on individuals.
🔥 In the spirit of the Fire Horse, the Kōryū Fellowship is already in motion.
We currently have eight dedicated students actively engaged in study and service, and we are intentionally opening space for two additional fellows ready to commit to practice, responsibility, and cultural stewardship.
To support this next phase, we are requesting donations to help fund:
Educational materials and training
Fellowship and student support
Public cultural programs and demonstrations
The foundational costs of building a sustainable nonprofit
Contributions made during this period will directly support the Foundation’s launch and ongoing work. Once 501(c)(3) status is finalized, donations will be applied in accordance with nonprofit guidelines.
As we prepare for the year ahead, several tea demonstrations and cultural programs are already confirmed or actively in development for 2026.
Pending Events:
Arkansas Association of Asian Businesses Luncheon (AAAB) — February 2026
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art — March 2026
Garvan Woodland Gardens, Bonsai Hut and Garden Tour — Spring 2026
Confirmed Events:
Cherry Blossom Matsuri at the Agricultural Museum (Scott, AR) — March 21
Hanamaki Sister City Cherry Blossom Festival — April 4
If this work speaks to you, we invite you to support the Tea Horse Kōryū Foundation in a way that feels aligned. Your generosity helps ensure that this living tradition continues—thoughtfully, accessibly, and with integrity.
With gratitude and shared purpose,Jennifer and the Tea Horse Kōryū Fellowship Students
