Japanese Zen Temple Trip Highlights:Â
- Arashiyama - Bamboo Forest
- Fushimi Inari - can be a whole day (a lot of hiking up the mountain)
- Ginkakuji and Kinkakuji - Gold and Silver Pavilions
- Tenruji Temple - featuring a fascinating dragon painting in their Great Hall, and it's an optical illusion of the dragon either ascending or descending depending on which side of the hall you are located on. (https://www.tenryuji.com/en/unryuzu/index.html)
- Ryoanji - Famous Zen Temple
- Nanzenji Temple - Old Temple and Aqueduct System still in place
- Kitano Tenmangu Temple - Temple of Scholarly Pursuits
