This workshop offers an introduction to the art of Japanese incense (kō) as it relates to Chanoyu, the tea ceremony. Participants will: Learn about the history and cultural importance of incense in Japanese arts Explore different types of traditional incense used in tea gatherings Experience the ritual of purifying the tea space with incense Sample a variety of Japanese incense woods and blends, including aloeswood (jinkō) and sandalwood (byakudan). This 60 minute session is perfect for tea practitioners, cultural enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to the quiet poetry of fragrance. All materials provided.
